University Keys Frequently Asked Questions
- Who decides whether I am eligible to receive a key?
Eligibility is determined by your department head or designated administrator responsible for the assigned space.
- How do I request a key?
Submit a Work Order Request through the Facilities Services website and complete a Key Request Form signed by your department head.
- How long does it take to receive my key?
Keys are available two business days after submitting your work order, provided all forms are complete.
- Can someone else pick up my key?
No. Keys must be picked up in person by the key recipient with their MyWSU ID card.
- What if I lose my key?
Notify the Lock Shop immediately and submit a replacement Work Order. Departments are responsible for costs associated with lost or stolen keys.
- What happens if I leave the University with an unreturned key?
Employees and students must return all keys before separation. Students will receive a record hold if keys are not returned.
- Can keys be shared among coworkers?
No. Keys may not be transferred, shared, or passed between individuals.
- Where do I pick up my key?

At the Gaddis Physical Plant Complex, directly east of the water tower.
Parking Notice: Personal vehicles may not enter the gated Physical Plant area. Use the visitor parking lot east of the water tower.
- What are the key pickup hours?
Keys may be picked up between 8:00 a.m.–9:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
