Local Government Network
At the core of LGN is the monthly Managers Roundtable where member cities/counties share experiences, discuss emerging issues, and work cooperatively toward regional solutions. When your city/county joins LGN, the door is opened to resources that can directly benefit other staff and sometimes elected officials.
In 2026, 28 cities and 4 counties in central Kansas benefited from membership. See the list below to check if your organization is a member.
- Monthly Managers Roundtable – 8 online (one hour), 4 in-person lunches
- Hot Topics – Discussion of housing, property tax, public works, civic engagement or other hot topics (some online, others in person) often presented in cooperation with other organizations, subject matter experts, or legislators
- NEW Survey of Fees – Compare the cost of trash/recycling services with those in other LGN communities
- Skills Development – Two (one-hour) live, online sessions exploring innovations in organizational culture and management using articles or books to spark conversation. Will explore topics like how to start, how to really do more with less, etc. (Similar “bookclub” format as NextGen EcoDevo in 2024-25)

LGN members will receive discounted rates on:
- Attendance at the City/County Management Summit on June 9, 2027 at WSU
- Orientation/Refresher (including Ethics) for Elected Officials – With turnover of elected officials comes the need for clarification of roles. Sometimes a neutral third-party presenter has its advantages. Customized to meet local and unique needs. Email Kathy to discuss options.
We happily provide board development in person at your regularly scheduled meetings (subject to scheduling/availability) and customize the curriculum to meet local and unique needs. Email Kathy to discuss options.
