Our Mission

The Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Hub supports and promotes an undergraduate research community across academic disciplines. We aim to facilitate a student research pipeline so that existing programs work together to create an arc of development for students, while developing innovative programs to increase student access and success.

We support and promote mentored undergraduate research and creative inquiry.
We collaborate with offices across campus to facilitate faculty training in research-based curriculum.
We serve as a catalyst for communication among interdisciplinary research teams.

Supported by the Dorothy & Bill Cohen Honors College, the UG Research & Creative Activities Hub is open to all students.

FYRE

The mission of the First Year Research Experience (FYRE) program is to build a community of STEM students, faculty and professionals from various STEM backgrounds to support young STEM majors or potential majors as they form identities as members of the scientific community, thus improving the likelihood that they will persist to graduation. FYRE is supported by funding from the Helen Clay Frick Foundation.

McNair Scholars Program

Wichita State University is proud to host the prestigious Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program, a federal TRIO Program 100% funded by the U.S. Department of Education. This project, also known as the McNair Scholars Program, was established in 1986 by the U.S. Department of Education. The Program identifies and prepares 28 eligible WSU students for graduate studies leading to the Ph.D. by providing research training and early scholarly experiences to high-achieving undergraduates.

UReCA

The Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (UReCA) grants program awards up to $1,000 to support student research and creative/performance projects in collaboration with a faculty mentor. This program is suspended for the fall 2023 semester, but will return in spring 2024!

URCAF

URCAF offers a platform through which undergraduate students may engage in the scholarly conversation by presenting new research they have conducted to the WSU community. URCAF supports submissions that contribute to this conversation from across all disciplines and using all forms of documentation. There truly are no limits to the type of submissions that will be considered, and the next winner of this juried research competition showcase may be you!
