Zoom Etiquette

You are going to be getting a lot more comfortable with Zoom. Which is to say: your face is going to be plastered on the laptop screens of many of your classmates. Learning from the comfort of your home can make it feel desirable to dress down, but make sure that you are looking presentable just as you would attending class in person. EOC Zoom Chats begin May 4th. Watch your email for an invite or go to the EOC Website for further info.

Students Must Practice Self-Careself care

Self-care is activities we do to take care of our mental, emotional and physical health. Self-care is important during stressful and challenging times. Some tips: 1) move your body (home workouts, walking and biking); 2) drink plenty of water; 3) watch something that makes you laugh; and 4) stay in touch with family and friends.

Tips for Coping with COVID-19

According to Active Minds Blog, you should consider the following tips for staying well. How many of these are you practicing? Take the challenge. A check in each box is worth 20 points and will net you a total of 100 points.

  • Maintain routines as much as possible. Whether you are returning home or participating in online learning from a temporary location, try to maintain your typical study schedule each day.
  • Practice healthy habits and the kinds of self-care that most benefit you. Prioritize getting a healthy amount of sleep, eating well, avoiding alcohol, and moving or exercising regulary.
  • Avoid crowds - but stay connected. School closures can mean you might find yourself distanced from the people you would normally see on campus. If so, make the effort to stay connected through social media, email, texting and video calls.
  • Seek news only from reliable sources, and only in short stints. As with all things, we can find ourselves over-consuming news and updates. Try not to become absorbed in the coverage for long periods of time, and find opportunities to appropriately disconnect.
  • Take breaks to ease your mind and distract yourself when you start to worry. Play a game. Watch a movie. Take a yoga class. Try a meditation app.
