Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)

The Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program allows you to receive forgiveness of the remaining balance of your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments while working full time for a qualifying employer.

The PSLF Program takes ten years of payments and employment. The loans you're paying on, how you pay them, and the work you do all play a part in determining whether you reach forgiveness.

Wichita State employees have access to The Work Number for employment references, employment verification, and/or income verification 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

Wichita State University (WSU) uses The Work Number, a third party employment database for all employment and salary verification inquiries.

All external requests for reference and employment information are to be directed to The Work Number.

The Work Number allows requestors to receive limited information regarding an individual’s current or past employment with WSU. Employees may authorize a salary verification by providing a Salary Key control code that will allow a third-party access to their information.

Shockers and United Way - fighting for the education, income and health of everyone in south central Kansas.  Whether responding to a global pandemic or a personal crisis, United Way is at work every day.  That's why Wichita State University supports United Way.  We also understand how much Shockers benefit from United Way.  Last year, United Way funded programs helped our employees 404 times.

Shocker Support Locker

The Shocker Support Locker, formally, the Shocker Food Pantry, was founded by the 58th session of the Student Government Association on November 4, 2015. The Shocker Support Locker opened its doors on February 1, 2016 to all Wichita State University students, faculty and staff. The Shocker Support Locker gives students, faculty and staff access to food, clothing, toiletries, and baby/family products. The Shocker Support Locker is coordinated and managed by the Student Government Association.

W (formerly Young Professionals of Wichita) is a community for young professionals in Wichita, Kansas. Through networking, leadership opportunities, and exclusive programs, we prepare you for career and personal growth.  Free membership is available to Wichita State University employees.

Young Shocker Professionals

The Young Shocker Professionals is a group for the young and young at heart. Our purpose is to unite faculty and staff from across campus, make connections and have fun!

We regularly do brown bag lunches, athletic events, happy hours and much more. There is no fee to join and no commitment. Just email ysp@wichita.edu to be added to the mailing list and start receiving news about all of the great things we are doing together!

Women of Wichita State University (WWSU)

Women of Wichita State University (WWSU) is an organization formed in the Fall of 2018 by the combination of two groups; the Wichita State University Women's Association (founded in 1928),  and the Council of University Women (founded in 1930). 

WWSU's purpose is to serve the University by providing student scholarships.  We are dedicated in promoting the personal growth of our members through social interaction, and fostering a sense of community through fellowship and the spirit of friendliness.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

BENEFIT-ELIGIBLE (BE) RESOURCE

What is the Employee Assistance Program?  The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a special service provided for benefits-eligible employees and their dependents at no charge.  The EAP provides information, short-term counseling, advice, and referrals from licensed professionals who understand the typical stresses we all face day in and day out.  In today’s fast-paced world, trying to manage work, home, family, and all the associated demands can sometimes be a real test.  And occasionally, wouldn’t it be nice if there were an experienced, objective professional who could answer a confidential question or help with one of life’s concerns?

Who Is Eligible to Use the EAP? The EAP is available to all active, benefits-eligible employees of the State of Kansas, their family members living in the same household or dependent children. All active, benefits-eligible employees of our Non State Employer Groups, their family members living in the same household or dependent children. Benefits-eligible employees who have been laid off/terminated are eligible to use the EAP for six months after a layoff. Retirees and COBRA participants are not eligible to participate. For questions or concerns about EAP, contact SEHPhealthquest@ks.gov.

Learning Quest 529 Education Savings Program

Tuition assistance is available for eligible Wichita State University employees and their dependents and/or spouse who wish to further their education through classes in a qualifying program at the University.

As a benefit-eligible (BE) employee, Wichita State University and the Greater Wichita YMCA have partnered together to make an investment in you and your health!

As with any YMCA membership, you still have access to all 9 locations, 4 waterparks, unlimited bootcamps and group exercise classes, and savings on most YMCA programs.
