Educators Come to WSU GK-12 Winter Workshop

All of the GK-12 teacher fellows spent two days at WSU learning about new molecular biology classroom activities.  GK-12 fellows and Dr. Schneegurt provided background lectures and practical advice on molecular biology techniques and applications.  The teachers had the opportunity to practice the activities with the equipment sets provided by NSF for their schools.  The teachers will extend the training tower to biology teachers and students at the 8 comprehensive public high schools in Wichita.  The activities are woven into the required general biology class taken by nearly 2000 students each year.  Other classes in forensics and physiology also will use the activities.  This is the first year of the GK-12 program and these activities are expected to impact more than 500 students.
