CSD Outstanding Alumni Award
The CSD Outstanding Alumni Award is given annually to our alumni who have shown outstanding
achievement in the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology. Nomination
letters should detail the nominee's qualifications for the award and include their
curriculum vita. Additional letters of support are optional, but appreciated. Submit
nominations to csd@wichita.edu by October 1.

2017: Kathy Strattman, PhD
Kathy Strattman is a speech-language pathologist (SLP) who graduated from Wichita
State University with a Master’s degree in Logopedics and worked as an SLP at the
Institute of Logopedics, which is now Heartspring. She began her Wichita State career
as a clinical educator in the WSU Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic supervising students
as they provided clinical services to clients.
Upon earning a PhD from WSU in 2001, she joined the academic faculty with teaching,
clinical, and research emphases in child language development and disorders. Dr. Strattman
has been the Undergraduate Coordinator and taught CSD undergraduate, masters, and
doctoral students throughout her tenure here. She served on the Kansas Speech-Language-Hearing
Association executive board as Vice President of Speech-Language Pathology. She has
served on both ASHA and KSHA convention program committees multiple times. In 1995,
she was named Kansas Speech-Language Pathologist of the Year. She received the WSU
President’s Distinguished Service award in 2010. She was named a Fellow of the American
Speech-Language-Hearing Association in 2011.
