"Gray Box," or Legacy BYOD Classrooms
There were once hundreds of "Gray Box" rooms installed around campus at one time. These were funded through a one-time grant from ITS ("UCATS" at the time). Now, these are the most actively used systems in classrooms.
Standard Features: Connection to plug in a user‐provided full‐size HDMI cable for user’s laptop/tablet/phone, etc. Also includes projector or display of appropriate size, plus appropriate speaker coverage for voice and video playback, with push‐button controls.
Optional Features: Most existing rooms have the eponymous gray boxes for security, to ensure users are trained prior to using the rooms. Wireless presentation (present from laptop/tablet wirelessly in non-department classrooms).
