Jane Gabbert

Jane Gabbert graduated from WSU with a BA in Theatre in 1977, studying under the beloved Dr. Richard Welsbacher, Mary Jane Teall & Joyce Cavarozzi. From there, she went on to get her MFA from Ohio University. After settling in New York, she studied w/ Acting teacher, Charles Kakatsakis.

Jane is known for a plethora of different stage, film and television productions such as Sully, w/ Tom Hanks, Dir. Clint Eastwood and many episodes as "Dave's Nurse" on Late Night w/ David Letterman, Search Party, Jack Ryan, Late Night w/ Seth Meyers & Closer to Home. Jane was born in Great Bend, Kansas. Regional Theatre includes Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Asolo & GEVA Theatres as well as guest artist/teacher  at Cornell University. Sketch comedy on The Daily Show and 2 episodes for The Chair Company (HBO Max) with Tim Robinson. Jane has also worked Off-Broadway w/ June Squibb, Barney Martin, Brian Howe & Alison Martin. Her commercial & voice-over credits are numerous, (CESD Talent Agency) and Headline Talent (Theatrical). 

In September 2024, Jane returned to WSU to direct the 2024 Bela Kiralyfalvi Playwriting Competition Award Winning play, The Angel of Death, written by current WSU student Amanda Schmalzried, which premiered March 6th - 8th 2025 at the Welsbacher Theatre, located in the WSU Hughes Metroplex. Jane came back to WSU in 2025 to direct Now We are A Hundred by Alaina Tennant, the 2025 Bela Kiralyfalvi Playwriting Award Winning Play. The play will premiere in the Welsbacher Theatre, located in the WSU Hughes Metroplex from September 25-27th at 7:30 PM. 

Jane is excited to be returning to direct DINNERTIME: A Play in Seven Courses by Anna Halza the 2026 Bela Kiralyfalvi Playwriting Competition Award Winning Play being performed on September 17-19th.
