No Photo Available - Default ImageDr. Xiaomi Hu is a valued member of the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics at Wichita State University. His contributions to teaching, research, and service are significant and influential. Dr. Hu’s professional specialty is in the area of statistics. His work focuses on the restricted statistical inference and he has worked for NIAR for seven summers (2005-2012).

As a scholar, Dr. Hu Has published many research articles in the prestigious statistical journals and his works have been professionally presented in a number of domestic and international conferences. After establishing longsought unbiasedness of LRT under univariate order restrictions in 1994, Dr. Hu worked on the extension of the restricted inference under multivariate order restrictions using the technique of matrix projections including algorithm and theory.

As a teacher, Dr. Hu is the key member of the graduate statistics faculty directing many masters and PhD students and teaching a number of highlevel graduate statistics courses. The students commented that he was always well-organized and his lectures were very clear.

For services, Dr. Hu has served the Faculty Grievance Pool in 1997 and 1998, faculty senate representing Math, the College Curriculum Committee in 2014 and 2015, and a number of departmental committees including the Graduate Assessment committee and many textbook committees. Dr. Hu is always willing to help.

Summarizing, Dr. Hu has exerted tremendous influence over our department for twenty-five years, and it’s time for the department to say “Thank you”.
